Course Overview:
The MSMWHS217 – Gas Test Atmospheres course provides participants with the skills and knowledge required to test and monitor potentially hazardous atmospheres in confined spaces or other high-risk work environments. This unit is essential for workers who need to assess atmospheric conditions to ensure a safe work area prior to and during tasks such as confined space entry, hot work, or working in flammable or toxic environments.
Course Content:
Upon completing the course, participants will be able to:
Identify hazardous gases and the risks associated with atmospheric contamination
Select, calibrate, and use gas detection equipment
Interpret and respond to gas test readings
Determine when an area is safe for work based on atmospheric conditions
Monitor ongoing atmospheric conditions and respond to unsafe levels
Understand workplace procedures for reporting and acting on abnormal gas readings
Follow relevant WHS legislation, codes of practice, and permit systems
Apply emergency response procedures if unsafe atmospheric conditions are detected
CPCCOM1016 - Identify requirements for safe precast and tilt-up work

Upon successful completion of the course, you will be issued with an Advanced Australian Academy statement of attainment (certificate) for the following unit:

Course Requirements:
Participants must be over the age of 18 and have basic language, literacy, and numeracy skills. A valid form of identification is required. Participants must also be physically fit to carry out the practical components of the course, including entering controlled environments and using detection equipment.
