Course Overview:
The CPPFES2005 – Demonstrate First Attack Firefighting Equipment course provides participants with the essential skills and knowledge required to confidently and safely respond to incipient-stage fires using portable firefighting equipment. This unit is ideal for individuals working in high-risk environments where early intervention can prevent fire escalation, and is commonly required for workplace emergency response teams and general staff fire safety training.
Course Content:
Upon completing the course, participants will be able to:
Identify different classes of fire and the appropriate extinguisher for each
Inspect and identify faults in first attack firefighting equipment (extinguishers, fire hose reels, fire blankets)
Demonstrate the correct use of portable fire extinguishers on live-fire simulations
Operate fire hose reels and fire blankets safely and effectively
Assess fire situations and determine whether first attack firefighting is appropriate
Follow emergency procedures and communicate with emergency services
Apply safe work practices, including the use of PPE and observing exclusion zones
Understand workplace fire safety procedures and emergency protocols

Upon successful completion of the course, you will be issued with an Advanced Australian Academy statement of attainment (certificate) for the following unit:

Participants must be over the age of 18 and have basic language, literacy, and numeracy skills. A valid form of identification is required. Participants must also be physically capable of using fire equipment and responding to live fire simulations.
